Things got heated on Wednesday 8th June as the team from explosion protection company Pyroban took part in a chilli cooking competition to raise money for a local charity.

Unlike a traditional office bake off, in this contest people from all across the business cooked up a pot of their very best chilli for their workmates to enjoy. In order to sample a serving, Pyroban colleagues at the Shoreham by Sea facility in West Sussex, UK, had to make a donation to charity, with all money raised benefitting local charity, the Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.

Having dished out the spicy selection over lunch in the Shoreham office, a vote took place to decide who had produced the best, and the worst, pot of chilli.

Although the top spot was hotly contested, the winner of the first Pyroban chilli cook off was Sales Coordinator Simona Gandolfi who was presented with a trophy to mark her achievement. The recipient of the ‘wooden spoon’ prize, for a chilli that didn’t quite make the grade, was Kerrie Peskett, Materials Handling Marketing Executive.

As well as being lots of fun, not to mention tasty, the competition also helped to support a good cause with donations on the day amounting to £158.29. Pyroban then matched the sum, helping to raise £316.58 for charity in total.
